Damir Vrbanović was born on March 2nd, 1959 in Zagreb, and after several years of playing career in Croatia he devoted himself to the administration.
Vrbanović obtained his degree in Sports Law at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb, and since 1992 he has been an employee of the Croatian Football Federation. He became the Chairman of the Committee for Legal Matters and contributed in structuring the regulations.
Between 1996 and 2012 he held offices of the director general and executive director in Dinamo Zagreb, while in Croatian Football Federation he became the secretary of disciplinary and appealing bodies.
In 2003, Vrbanović was elected as the President of the Association of the Croatian 1st Division clubs, and two years later he became the Vice President of the Croatian Football Federation.
Damir Vrbanović is an active member of the European Football Federation. Since 2006, he has been a member of UEFA Professional Football Committee, while since 2007 he has been a member of UEFA Club Competitions Committee, where he was later elected the Vice Chairman, with a new mandate until 2015. From 2015, he is a member of the National Team Competitions Committee. From 2009, he is a member of FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber as a club representative.
FIFA appointed him in 2009 to its Dispute Resolution Chamber. Since July 5th 2012 Damir Vrbanović has been the Executive President of the Croatian Football Federation. On April 14th 2014, Mr. Vrbanović was re-elected as the Executive President until 2018. On April 20th 2015, HNS General Assembly renamed the function to Executive Director.
