Through the panel of 32 Champions League coaches and 55 media representatives from all member countries, UEFA is selecting the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward in 2016/2017 Champions League season.

Among the top three midfielders nominated for the award is the Croatia captain Luka Modrić of Real Madrid, who has retained the prestigious title with his club. His club teammates Toni Kroos and Casemiro are also nominated.
