On Monday, Croatian Football Federation Assembly has appointed Davor Šuker as president until 2018.

Davor Šuker will remain at the helm of the Croatian Football Federation. Croatian Football Federation Assembly confirmed the decision, with the sole candidate Šuker, the former Golden Boot of the 1998 FIFA World Cup, being unanimously supported by 48 Assembly representatives.

"It is a great honour to be the president of the Croatian Football Federation and to fight for Croatian football as I have once done at the pitch. It was always my desire to give back to football what it has given to me, and I believe I can do that in the best possible way from this position", said Šuker after his election.

"It is impressive to see what we have done in the previous two years and I would like to thank everyone in the football family, who gave a significant contribution to this success. I also invite everyone to continue in the same way, protecting the interests of Croatian football, while respecting others. Your support is an obligation, to give my all for the development of Croatian football, and I promise to do so. Let us be proud", he emphasized.

During the proceedings, members of the Executive Committee were also elected, and the executive president Damir Vrbanović was confirmed at his position, until 2018.

UEFA Executive Committee member, Mircea Sandu, said a couple of words as an UEFA emissary: "Excellent results of the Croatian national football team would not be possible without the work done at the Croatian football organization. This is the proof of continuity and quality, and has to be commended, as well as the good results in the youth competitions. Congratulations, and good luck in Brazil".
